The sings and the symptoms that come from shingles will usually only affect either the left or right side of your body. There may be a pain or tingling feeling and a red rash that occurs during the next few days. You may find that you have some fluid-filled blisters and a lot of itching. It’s most common for people to experience fly like symptoms as well except for the fever. They will usually undergo the chills, a headache, feel stomach pain and endure a lot of fatigue.

The Symptoms of Shingles

The first symptom of shingles is pain, and that can be quite intense at times. It’s going to depend on the location of the pain and it can often be mistaken for a heart or lung pain. The rash that develops is most often a stripe of blisters that will wrap around the right or the left side of your torso. In some cases this rash will occur on the face near the eye, or in the neck area.

If you suspect that you have shingles you should contact your doctor immediately but only in these situations. The pain and the rush pop up around your eye. If this type of shingles symptom is left untreated, then it can actually lead to permanent damage to the eye. If you are over the age of 65 it will increase the complications, and the risks associated with it; you should see a doctor in this case. If somebody in your family, or you for that matter, has a very weak immune system, a chronic illness, are on medications and all of this is a result of cancer you should see a doctor immediately. If the rash is overall just very painful and spreading widely this is another sign you should simply have a physician take a look at it and treat you accordingly.

Causes of Shingles

The Varicella-Zoster virus is the cause of shingles, and this is the same cause of chickenpox. Anyone who has come down with a case of the shingles has already had the chickenpox, and it’s possible that he has had it prior to the shingles. After the recovery from the chickenpox, the virus enters nervous system and lie there dormant for years. At one point or another it’s possible that it will reactivate and travel along the nerve pathways, and that is what causes the shingles symptoms on your skin.

The reason as to why this happens is still very unclear. It could be due to the fact that the immune system is lower than others and is more prone to infection as we get older. It is much more common in older adults who do not have a very strong immune system.

Conclusion

This is a part of a group of viruses that is called herpes viruses and this also causes cold sores and genital herpes.  Although shingles is not a sexually transmitted disease; it is categorized as something similar because of the type of effect it has on the skin.
